MEET CHEF | PATISSIER JARED MELAMED
Jared Melamed is a self-taught chef/ patissier and the creative force behind La Tarte Pâtisserie, a luxury French pastry venture based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Jared's journey to becoming a renowned pastry chef is unconventional. He has traveled to over 50 countries, experiencing diverse culinary traditions and honing his palate along the way.
His travels included working as a professional diver to fund his culinary adventures, which ranged from Thai jungles to Singapore’s hawker markets.
La Tarte Pâtisserie, which Jared launched from a ghost kitchen, has quickly gained the reputation of an industry leader in pastries and deserts. His offerings include classic French pastries like Paris Brest and Tartelettes au Choux Noisette.
In recognition of his exceptional talent, Jared won the Best Pastry Chef of the Year 2024 award at the Luxe Restaurant Awards
( South Africa ) , highlighting his significant impact on the culinary scene.
